Early morning advice!! Order a copy of: RUSSIAN GOLD & SILVER by Alexander von Solodkoff although the English language edition was published 1981 (Trefoil Books) it is available on most 2ndhand book websites without going bankrupt!! It is the best general book for marks and makers (not too many makers) and is easy to use - a must for all those interested in Russian Silver by the foremost authority. While you wait for the book, you might like to look at: ASCAS A site which provides an intersting introduction to Russian marks and a guide to the cyrillic alphabet. IP: Logged |

thanks...but it isnt really antique enough for those marks...maybe 1920-40? it has quite a few marks but they look like either a peacock or fowl in a circle and a star/anvil in a pentagon with squiggles above the star/anvil...some say "cccp" IP: Logged |

Any piece with marked CCCP would date between 1922 and 1991. The letters "CCCP" in the cyrillic alphabet correspond to the English alphabet letters "SSSR". They stand for "Soyúz Sovétskikh Sotsialistícheskikh Respúblik" which translates as Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, or Soviet Union for short. Sorry I can't help with any of the other markings.
