[01-1928] Hello, I have a unusual 3 footed dish and cover with 3 swan or dragon heads on the upper part of the legs that hold the bowl. The lid to the bowl has markings on the cover lip, MOB and stamped on the outside cover, I.B. On the bottom of the dish part it has part of its stamp covered with a ball foot~the base is screwed on with very handmade looking unusual screws, these are what are covering the MM. It reads ARKMAN but could be MARKMAN or something else. There is also another mark, above the ARKMAN~ a tree that looks like a weeping willow. It also has hand inscribed marks, but cannot reproduce them here. There is a mark of 3 crowns inside 3 connected circles which I believe is the Swedish mark. There is another mark under the ARKMAN a W and then a funny looking 3. Any info would be appreciated,I know it is pretty old, it was my Grandmother's, who was from Sweden. She was born in 1880 and came to this country when she was 2 years old. I believe it was from her parents family, of which I know little. Thank you for any and all information.

The three crown mark certainly counds Swedish, but I'm afraid little else can be said from your description. Several Swedish cities used a tree as their mark, and the "W3" - which should be a date code - puzzles me, since the letters J & W were not used in the sequence. The "3" would date it 1807-1836, though. Please, try to post a good photo of the mark; that would really help! [This message has been edited by blakstone (edited 11-19-2004).] IP: Logged |
