[01-2288] I picked up this fork a while back in the local flea market. Can anyone please comment on the marks, which although worn appear to be something unidentifiable, the initials R.C in a lozenge, and 800 in a circle? Or failing a complete id, suggest a possible date and place of origin based on the style? Many thanks, IP: Logged |

What is the mark on the left? Could it be an Italian registry number (with which the 800 in an oval on the right would be entirely in keeping)? [This message has been edited by blakstone (edited 04-15-2005).] IP: Logged |

Thanks, Blakstone! Italy is a strong possibility I hadn't considered. Here's another photo of the marks:
I don't know if it is any clearer, but I had fun trying to take it through a jeweler's loupe. It could be numbers - I just can't tell. IP: Logged |
