TBC Posts: 134 Registered: Jan 2005	posted 04-29-2005 11:03 AM [01-2296] Hello all. I've recently purchased (very cheaply) what was described as being a Russian silver cigarette case. I have no knowledge of Russian marks, but bought the item because I liked it. I would be very grateful for any help in identifying the hallmarks - I'm sure sazikov2000 will know this one off the top of his head! The townmark is Moscow The assay master is LO (Latin) Oleks Lev Fedorowitsch, on duty 1890-1896 The silversmith is AI (Latin) Iwanov Adrian Terentewitsch Silver content 84 (875/1000) Welcome to Russian silver! I am now attaching another picture which shows the inside of the case; I had a suspicion it might not be a cigarette case (absence of bands to retain cigarettes) but had not considered a snuffbox. With a loope you can find the places where they have been. Snuffboxes are this size too in Russia, there is everything bigger! Regards Sazikov2000 IP: Logged
