I recently read that the Harper government in Canada sold off some of the Queen's silver for bargain basement prices and that now they are trying to get it back. Has anyone else heard this? IP: Logged |

I don't have an inside track to confirm or deny this story, but I believe it rings truest according to political leanings. It's difficult to tell the truth from political wranglings. Nothing out of the ordinary about that though. IP: Logged |

Go online and enter 'canada sells queens silver'. An article will come up telling the basic story. Three silver flower vases made ca. 1892 and given to the queens grandparents were sold as surplus property. Yes, they are trying to get them back. They sold for appx. $590.00 and I would think that would be Canadian Dollars versus US Dollars as the article was in a Canadian paper. IP: Logged |
