I am leaving tomorrow for a week in Ecuador. Can anyone suggest a particular market or store at which to buy indigenous silver jewelry? Thanks, IP: Logged |

We've must have missed this. We've been to Ecuador a couple of times and not found anything silver of notable interest. The most interesting place in Quito is the shop of Olga Fisch. This is an artist who left Hungary in WWII and after arriving she taught the local artisans to make their pieces with a quality so they can be sold. Our 'treasure' from her shop is a rug that is similar to the Lascaux cave paintings in France. Her rugs have been shown at the Smithsonian, among other places. What did you find? IP: Logged |
