[26-1920] I Have a silver creamer, claimed to be from Eva Braun's villa. It was liberated in ww2 and has been in my family since then. It is clearly marked with a crest of a robed woman holding something and is standing on a field of crowns. I would greatly appreciate anyone helping me find more about this item. Pictures will be sent to those with interest to help. Thanks ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hello! Once you have responded with pictures of the piece with the marks posted on this Forum I'm sure would elicit an appropriate response. We would be all be interested in assisting you if possible. BTW many of her silver pieces are well documented. Thanks for asking. I am also putting aside the fact that I am a grandchild on my mothers side of the regime & am looking at this query from an historic point of view in terms of silver makers from the era. It happened & some things unfortunately must be remembered as a matter of history , sadly good or bad. I hope everyone understands my response. Jersey IP: Logged |

Hi - to be more precise: "liberated" means stolen or looted by the Germany occupying allied forces - a common and widespread habit. Nearly every German houshold (if not already bombed to rubbish)lost his valuables to the "liberators"! Regards IP: Logged |

Postnikov, I agree - it seems that anything of any possible value or interest was looted either by the Americans or the Russians, or the British, or the French. It was not only personal items of value that the soldiers took from houses, shops, and people, but also the governments of the Allied armies were taking anything and anyone who were considered to be of possible military or scientific value. For example, there was a big effort by each government to grab as many German scientists as possible, along with every kind of military technology from rockets to jet aircraft to smaller things IP: Logged |

Did not also the German civilians loot treasures from their corrupt leaders once they were out of power? The Russians and allied forces were there as freedom fighters in the ultimate theme, if it were not for the German leaders intent to take over the world, by means of violence they (the GI and Russian soldier) would not have been there. ?????? If I may dip a toe into this water, Polnikov, the Germans along with the Russians looted the freedom of the Poles and most other Europeans during and after the war. The Allied forces were "liberators" while driving the Germans from occupied countries but once on German soil they were forces taking the war back to those who occupied others. middletom IP: Logged |

Ok Don, I believe the lady is the logo of the long gone Platterhof hotel in Germany. If you do a search you will find much info on this. Your silver maker did do a lot of Hotel ware. Hope this helps! Jersey IP: Logged |

Art is a personal taste and should always belong to the one who bought it. You can't buy freedom, that's more worth than art. Please don't forget the mistakes which were made and learn from them. IP: Logged |
