The current English (UK) silver standard marks are:
I believe that these new marks were put into use about 1998. Before 1998 was 800 an assayed standard in the UK? Does anyone any examples of flatware or holloware with these marks? IP: Logged |

Silver below the sterling grade was never legal in the UK until a few years ago when the British hallmarking system was expanded to embrace the rest of Europe. However, according to the Thomas Skipton company, the following marks were available in the 1980s for 800 silver made in the UK for export - but has anyone actually seen them on a piece of silver?
