Could somebody tell me about the mark j.c.&c.l.? it is on a blue and white jasperware teapot on teh lit w/ sterling mark, Birmingham mark and a "d" I cannot identify as from what period, either from the 1800s or 1900s. There are also two marks on the base of the teapot, sort of a horseshoe and something like a simplyfied butterfly. Any ideas? IP: Logged |

There is a maker "J C & Co Ld" from the early 1900s. If this is the same as yours it would make the date 1903. From your description it could not be 19th century (1800s) as there is no duty mark (monarch's head) which appeared from 1784 to 1890. And the next lower case d after 1903 is 2003. Phil IP: Logged |
