I have a silver toothpick which is hallmarked Birmingham 1897 (could possibly be 1922 - but I think it's 1897) - maker is SJR - any help identifying the maker would be great. I know of S J Rose but they are usually S.J.R and I don't know if they were around in 1897 (or even 1922)? IP: Logged |

The Silversmiths of Birmingham and their Marks 1750-1980 at page 364 shows a maker's mark for S.J.R&S. This mark was registered at the Birmingham Assay Office in October 1922 for S.J.Read & Son. IP: Logged |
