Very nice Queen Anne piece. Side mounted handles do occur, but are less common than the straight mounted ones. Provincial examples of either style are not common. How tall is it? [This message has been edited by swarter (edited 01-21-2005).] IP: Logged |

Swarter, Dazman will probably not be able to answer your question as this item is currently for sale on eBay, although I note that the high bidder is a certain dazzzman. Phil IP: Logged |

Thanks for catching that, Phil. I should have checked the links in his posting. Obviously the pictures were not his to use, which is one of the several reasons we discourage auction related questions. If he gets it, perhaps they can be posted again. IP: Logged |

Just so you know I was working with the seller so was authorised to use the pictures. I have bought a bunch of his stuff and been advising him. He picked up an auction lot of a bunch of silver for £5 if you can believe it and all told it is worth about £8K, lucky guy wish I could do that!! One should know the facts before you start casting accusations. Thought we were supposed to be a helpful lot. BTW it was about 5.5 inches wide by 6 inches tall. Pretty small due to the price of tee during the Queen Ann period. Shill bidding on an auction is a violation of ebay's rules; using information gleaned from these forums purely for profit is a violation of ours. IP: Logged |

LOL, now accusations of shill bidding. I bid on it before I started investigating it, which was when I posted the pictures he e-mailed me to have a look at. After I looked into it and figured it was worth about £3500 to £4000 I told him to take it off e_bay and put it in Southerby's or Christies. Also how is asking for a makers mark trying to gain profit? Some twisted logic there! Sounds like a little moderation is in order for this moderator. Have you happened to have heard of the legal term Liable. It can be a very expensive business! What is it with you guy's looking for boogymen all over the place?? Life and get come to mind. This thread is just another perfect example of why these forums do not permit any postings related to items currently up for auction by either the seller or by prospective buyers (or helpers of sellers or buyers). We implore everyone to please read, respect and abide by the SSF-Guidelines. Thanks. [This message has been edited by June Martin (edited 01-23-2005).] IP: Logged |

Please see the current tankard thread (English Silver tankard) for a prime example of the kind of inquiry which makes participation in these forums worthwhile. IP: Logged |
