we have a silver vase dated 1732 from chester with a makers mark HM could anyone tell me who the maker is IP: Logged |

There is no such mark shown in Ridgeway's Chester Silver. We will need to see a photograph of the marks. IP: Logged |

Are you absolutely sure it's 1732? The script G was also used in 1907 and this would fit with one of 2 Birmingham silversmiths who sent their silver to Chester for assay - H Matthews (H M in separate rectangular boxes) or H Moreton (H M in separate diamond or lozenge shapes). Phil IP: Logged |

Thankyou for the information about my vase which was left for me from my grandma. The vase stands about 12 inches, has a scalloped top and embossed leafing on it could anyone put a estmated value on it for insurance purpose, it would be a great help, thankyou again IP: Logged |
