It's so rare for a new book to be published on Irish silver, let alone Cork silver, that I though I'd alert members to a recent publication entitled "Cork Silver and Gold: Four Centuries of Craftsmanship", by Bowen & O'Brien (2005) published by the Collins Press and retailing in Ireland for EURO35.00. Running to some 200 pages, with a multitude of excellent colour photographs, it is a mine of information (for me at least). It was published this year to coincide with a silver exhibition in Cork, Ireland as part of Cork's year as European Capital of Culture in 2005. Best rgds, Tom (PS - I was given the book as a gift, and am unrelated to authors or publisher. This is not an advertisement!) [This message has been edited by TBC (edited 07-15-2005).] IP: Logged |

Scott, My copy was bought by a friend who heard me enthuse about Irish silver when he and his wife were guests of ours, recently. He purchased it in Cork, Ireland so lest it was a provincial offering, I thought I'd check out Amazon and, sure enough, it's there. I've edited this post because the link I gave does not seem to work...try a search against books for the title and you will find it on the net. STG£25 for the paperback and STG£45 for the hardback. Best rgds to all, Tom IP: Logged |
