I have a silver ingot pendant. It has a Sheffield town mark.A sterling silver lion (facing left) mark.A letter 'B' which, I think means it was made in 1976...It has the initials RW makers mark...I was wondering who this is? Thanks. S IP: Logged |

Stephen, The "B" date letter could be 1976 or 1969-70 or 1944-45 or earlier (if a CAPITAL B). A picture would be needed to narrow this down, although my sense is that the nature of the item indicates a more recent date. AS to th emaker's mark, I'm afraid my Pocket Editor of Jackson's Hallmarks does not list an "RW". Hope this is of some help. Rgds, TBC IP: Logged |

The Sheffield town mark for 1976 had just changed to be a Yorkshire rose. The 1969 mark was still a crown. Both years had what could be described as a script B as the date letter. Your guess at the maker sounds quite reasonable. I see that the company is still in business and has a web site, but I could not find a picture there of the mark they use. Phil IP: Logged |

Thanks..I'm pretty sure that it is 1976..(as I saw an identical 'B' on ebay)..The town mark is a rose...Cheers for the help. S. IP: Logged |
