The piece is unusual looking but quite crude. I love liberty items and would just like to try and find out a little bit more. Thanks IP: Logged |

The three small marks indicate this piece was imported into England and assayed as 92.5% silver, or sterling. Hopefully another member can give you the precise date. Any chance of a photo pf the entire piece - Liberty charms are new to me. IP: Logged |

This is the London import mark for 1993. Interesting - I didn't realise Liberty were still putting their own stamp on silver items. IP: Logged |

Thanks for such prompt replies. The amulet as I say is rather "rustic" looking, but I guess that is the style of the thing anyway. I just love owning anything Liberty. Thanks again for your responses.

The mark is that of Liberty & Co., a department store in business continuously since 1875. In 1901 they formed a subsidiary, Liberty & Co. (Cymric), Ltd., for the design, production, and sale of jewelry, some manufactured domestically for them and some imported. They had a line of "Cymric" jewellry; some of their early silver jewellry was made for them in, and imported from, Norway. The crudeness of this item suggests that it is a reproduction of an archaeological artifact. IP: Logged |

Thanks SWARTER - that seems like a logical explanation of this item, one which i hadn't thought of. Thanks again IP: Logged |
