Birmingham assay mark for 1912 the makers initials are WJ&S can anyone help us identify these initials be it manufacturer or supplier? Many thanks Irene IP: Logged
Tad Hale Posts: 120 Registered: Jul 2005	posted 08-11-2005 10:47 PM Irene, I am not sure who the maker is but you might try WJ Baker & Sons. The sons were listed as coming in to the business in 1916 but it could have been WJ Baker and Son prior to this. This is a possibility. Thanks, Tad IP: Logged

I have scoured their web site and indeed they were in production prior to 1916 but they appear to have used the mark WJB. I am visiting the Birmingham area in a couple of weeks time and think I will see if the Birmingham Assay Office or the Arts Museum can throw any light on the maker. If you have any other suggestions I would be pleased to hear from you or anyone else. Irene IP: Logged
