I have recently purchased a silver arts and crafts pendant in the charles horner style. Birmingham assay mark for 1912 the makers initials are WJ&S can anyone help us identify these initials be it manufacturer or supplier? Many thanks IP: Logged |

Irene, I am not sure who the maker is but you might try WJ Baker & Sons. The sons were listed as coming in to the business in 1916 but it could have been WJ Baker and Son prior to this. This is a possibility. Thanks, Tad IP: Logged |

Dear Tad Many thanks for your suggestion that the maker may be WJ Baker & Sons. I have scoured their web site and indeed they were in production prior to 1916 but they appear to have used the mark WJB. I am visiting the Birmingham area in a couple of weeks time and think I will see if the Birmingham Assay Office or the Arts Museum can throw any light on the maker.
