Hi there. These two cut glass/crystal perfume bottles belonged to my Grandmother and have been sitting in my house for years. I decided i should probably find out a bit about them. The larger one is about 8.5cm tall, and has a maker's mark which appears to read "WAE". I can't determine the other marks at all.
The smaller one is 5.5cm tall and has a maker's mark of "OM" or "CM".
I apologize for the poor photography and thanks for any help anyone can provide. Tori IP: Logged |

The marks look English, but are a bit too blurred to be 100% sure. However both WAE and CM were producing silver tops for vanity sets around 1900-1920. I don't know who WAE was, but he was working in London. CM is Charles May and his work was assayed in both London and Birmingham. Your picture looks more like a London mark (leopard's head) than a Birmingham one (anchor). If you can get a clearer picture we can date them more accurately. Phil IP: Logged |

That's a fabulous help, Phil, thank you so much. The timing would be about right too, my grandmother was born in 1900. I will endeavour to get better pics, but don't like my chances :S IP: Logged |

The "WAE" item date mark appears to be "l" for 1906/7 and the other appears to be "u" for 1915/6. Both appear to be marked in London. IP: Logged |
