This is the only mark I can find on an early 19c Old Sheffield Plate Candelabra, hidden inside the candle cup. Does anyone know the maker? thanks

I believe marks of this type were used by the silversmith/craftman that made the piece. I have been told that each silversmith/craftman that worked for the company would have his or her own stamp. Marks of this type could then be used to keep track of who made the various objects and how many they made. Perhaps this was done by the owner for quality control and cost control.
For Sheffield plate I have often thought that the process of making the finished product was just as hard and maybe harder that making goods from solid silver. I do not know any source that lists these craftman by name.
Often I suspect the person putting the silver on was not the actual designer of the goods and that is perhaps why leafs and outer symbols were used. Sometimes initials were used as in this thread Matthew Boulton
Perhaps initials were used by the foreman or a senior craftman.

Thanks for the very helpful info. Unfortunately the pics have expired and it would have been helpful to compare. Now I wonder if this is a piece from the
Bolton factory.

Here are some images of Matthew Bouton's sunburst mark and some of the silversmiths/craftmans' initials or symbols.
Silversmith marks

Old Sheffield plate has a wonderful bluish tinge that I think is unique to that form.

Thanks for refreshing the pics. I see the leaf mark is different, but still very informative in regard to the marking of Old Sheffield.
