Hello all,

Well, here goes.

Here is an unusual mark for John Lynch of Baltimore. I have seen his mark with the bird head, and also assay office marks, but never this. It is recorded that Lynch was one of those who protested the establishment of the assay office. I have to wonder if this mark was not some sort of protest mark, if not an actual "duty dodge".

Any thoughts? Have others seen this mark before, or do I just not get out enough?
