lucky-findz unregistered	posted 04-18-2004 03:09 PM Hi, I don't have the correct books to ID this hallmark. Does anyone immediately recognize it? I figure the 'S' in a octagon denotes the silver content, and 'EP' denotes the year (unknown to me). I just can't figure it out, there's nothing on the net. The Pics: Thanks in advance! IP: Logged

The company is listed in Pigot's Directory of 1834 as "Britannia Metal Manufacturers". Britannia metal was a type of pewter which, with the invention of elecroplating, became a popular base metal for silverplating hollowware. IP: Logged
