[01-2010] Birmingham spoons hallmark info. Hi there, The hallmarks (is that what they are called?) are the same on both spoons. I dug a load of these out of my mothers attic and am after any info I can find on them. Who made them, are they silver? etc. Any help will be most appreciated. IP: Logged |

Hi Your spoons are silverplate. The maker, with their distinctive mark, was very prolific - I have a mustard spoon by them myself. I will confess, however, that I have been unable to find out who they were - perhaps someone else on the Forum may be able to assist. Kind regards Waylander IP: Logged |

William Page & Co. of Birmingham,England, electroplate manufacturer. who seem to have started c.1897 (They also made a LITTLE silver, oddly enough with a similar maker's mark - first registered October 1897) [This message has been edited by Silver Lyon (edited 12-14-2004).] IP: Logged |

The second spoon in the first photo is 1847 Roger's Newport aka Chicago pattern, introduced in the 1870's. This was sold by Sears and other mass marketers. Newport is collectible and was made for over 30 years. Knives seem to be nonexistent. I can't quite make out the other Eastlake one. It might be Geneva. IP: Logged |
