It weighs approx. 90-100 grams and is from the early 1900's the markings on the inside are csg & co? hard to read it, type is very very small. A anchor symbol, a lion and the letter F as well as the lion and the letter F on the other part of the inside of the case which all denote the maker I believe. The inside is a gold color and machined into a swirl pattern.

I am afraid I do not know who the maker is. I am pretty sure the anchor is the sign for the Birmingham Assay office, the letter "F" could be 1905, 1930, 1955 or 1980. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will be able to assist you with the maker's mark. IP: Logged |

The makers mark of CSG&Co probably belongs to Charles S Green & Co which was founded in 1903 with premises in Pemberton Street, Warstone Lane, Birmingham. From their establishment the firm specialized in the manufacture of brushware and silver-mounted toilet accessories. A list of their production in 1917 includes cigar and cigarette boxes, card cases and other things. IP: Logged |
