Hi Guys, long time since i have been on the forums, and working so many hours hours a week just haven't had time to find anything really fun lately. I did stumble on a small Britannia two handled cup, while in England a couple of years ago, that I haven't been able to identify the maker, I just can't quite make out the Makers mark... a "Heart shaped" cartouch, with a second letter of an "L" with a , "pellet or dot beneath... it has the Britannia, Leopard head erased, date letter Capital "A" (1716),and was wondering if this rings a bell? I will see if I can get Lisa to take a picture, as My sight has not improved any over the years, so still looking through the Magnifying Glass... Its nice to be able to talk to folks of similar interests... Best wishes "Smaug" IP: Logged |

A Joseph Clare (I) entered a mark of this description in London in 1713, illustrated both in Grimwade and Jackson (Pickford). Interestingly, for a number of years subsequent to this, he was located at an address on Love Lane. One wonders if there is any connection to the heart shaped mark? Good to see you back with us. You have been gone too long. IP: Logged |
