[08-0886] I just acquired a beautiful basting spoon by Thomas Wallis II, 1802. It is 12" long, has a great classic look, and is pretty sturdy for weighing in at only 93 grams. I probably spent more than I should have for it, but now that it's here am happy to have it. It's far too nice (to me) to sit in a box tucked away -- and wonder what spoon collectors do to show their collection. Is there such a thing as a company that sells spoon displays? It looks better in person than in the picture...

Terrific piece! I just got one similar myself. Indeed use it. You won't hurt it at all, just wash it by hand after you're done and try not to polish it too often.

There are many questions already answered and threads started...try using search. For example: try searching Displaying spoons or Storing Silverware. IP: Logged |

I would have it available for use and not just display it. I use my Irish Georgian stuffing spoon every Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's one of the wonderful things about collecting silver, to be able to use your treasures! IP: Logged |
