Is the pedestal sugar bowl a common form in Georgian silver as compared to the more dominant boat shape? Or is it uncommon? Question: Is it okay to post here a photograph that a dealer published on Facebook? Thanks! IP: Logged |

I would say that the boat shape was the predominant form from c.1780 to c.1800. After that we begin to see the 19th century (leading to Victorian) "anything goes" as far as fashion is concerned. Before c.1780 circular sugar bowls were the most common form. whether on a pediment, footed or with legs. IP: Logged |
