Special Features
While Wendell is known for more mundane not too
interesting flatware, much of which was acquired from
Mauser, their Ariel pattern is a unique exception. It
is one of the most attractive multi-motif figural
settings in our collection, high quality and very
heavy. It is one of those patterns that you acquire one
piece at a time and feel lucky to do so. We just
recently picked up two keys to the set, the knife and
dinner fork after looking for over two years.

Dating
Ariel was first produced in 1895
like many of the other art nouveau figurals. Wendell
was out of the flatware business by 1900, and I have
not heard that the dies were sold to anyone else.
